Hypnotherapy special interests include:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Evidence based Hypnotherapy can help you enjoy the benefits of a calm, comfortable and controlled gut again.

  • Stress and AnxietyIs stress affecting you, your work, your family, your life? Hypnotherapy can help you gain the skills to tackle any underlying thoughts, feelings and beliefs that may be generating this unwanted stress. Putting you back in control!

Each therapy session is tailor-made for the individual you are. Some people find their issues are dealt with in one session others may need a specific programme just for them.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a skill that people learn so that they can use their mind in different way to normal. It can help people who are suffering, frustrated and finding it hard to find the help they need. It can be the answer because it is short term, safe practical and effective.

Traditional therapies deal with the conscious mind, hypnotherapy bypasses the conscious questioning mind and goes straight to the subconscious (emotion storehouse) where positive, healing and motivating suggestions are given often with profound results.

A hypnotic state is really a state of focused attention, something that everyone does many times a day, without calling it hypnosis.

Examples of this are: when our mind wanders while waiting at traffic lights (until the person behind beeps their horn); reading a book or watching a film when we create pictures of the places and people or perhaps just when we daydream, lost in our own thoughts

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, as your therapist I am just a guide who helps your hypnotic process along. However, it is not necessary to achieve a “deep” trance to benefit from therapy.

Most importantly, you are in control all of the time.

What to expect.

You will always be treated as the individual you are and your sessions will be personalised to your needs.

During the first session you will be able to sit in a comfy chair where we will discuss your issues. I will explain how hypnotherapy can help and answer any questions that you may have.

As your Hypnotherapist, I will use my voice and soothing hypnotic music to help guide you into a relaxed state. There are many ways to do this.  One common way is to use a relaxation technique or to ask you to imaging a particular scene.

You are neither asleep or awake, but somewhere in-between. Some people even experience a heightened state of awareness.

Hypnotherapy works best when it is a partnership. You may be given an MP3 sound file taken directly from your session, to use at home, depending on the reason why you are having hypnotherapy.

The aim of the therapy is for you to have the skills necessary to gain control over any situation as quickly as possible, wherever and whenever you need them.

It is not possible to say when a person will start to improve. Some people notice a change after one or two sessions, while others take longer.

I'm sure you will want to work with someone who is well-trained and who uses an evidence-based approach to therapy, confident that you will be in safe and capable hands.
